The Agricultural Extension Services was established to develop and maintain strong Research Extension Farmer Linkages Systems (REFILS) for the purpose of effective dissemination of research results to end - user -in the Institute's current geo-political areas of mandates covering Jigawa, Kaduna,Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto, and Zamfara states. In line with this broad objective, the extension outfit shall.

Extension unit Provide knowledge and skill training programmes for extension staff of states ADPs' Agricultural agencies and selected farmers through regular technology Review Meetings (TRMs). Disseminate agricultiural research - based information to ADPs, relevant federal and state ministries, agro-industries, primary agricultural producers and processors and other user of agricultural research results and perform community services including consultative diagnostic/advisory services. It collaborates with NAERLS and other relevant institute and organization on Extension activities.

The publications and information section was established as an arm of the Institute saddled with the responsibility of ensuring linkage of research results to the public through publicity and information dissemination. The section has the following general and specific functions:

a. Gathering of relevant information, manuscripts and reports for publication.

b. Editing Institute's materials for publication.

c. Publishing and production of the Institute's scientific, technical and extension related publications.

d. Storage and distribution of publications produced by the Institute.

e. Providing publicity and public relation support on the Institute's activities.

f. Giving out information on the Institute and providing liaison services to media houses.

g. Covering events in terms of photography.

f. Providing support services to the coordination of Exhibition, Fairs, Open days Gathering of relevant information, manuscripts and reports for publication.
